The SpeedCE homepage dropdown offers six diagnostic tools. Many users still default to HTTPS and get stuck when ICMP is blocked, DNS is inconsistent, or routing is the real issue. Each tool probes a different layer.

PING (ICMP) checks IP-layer reachability and round-trip delay. It does not verify that the web server is configured correctly. Useful for confirming a VPS IP is reachable, but if the server blocks ICMP you may see timeouts even when the site works.

HTTP tests port 80 web responses—good for sites not forced to HTTPS or for origin checks.

HTTPS includes the TLS handshake and most closely matches what a browser does. It is the default choice for day-to-day monitoring.

TCPing tests whether a specific TCP port is open (default 443, port editable). When clouds block ICMP, TCPing on 80/443 is more reliable than PING and ideal for firewall misconfiguration checks.

DNS queries records from nationwide or global nodes (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS). After migrations, see whether resolution has propagated and whether regions disagree—more convincing than a local dig. Domains only.

Traceroute traces the path from a single selected node to the target, with optional MTR mode for per-hop loss and latency. Pair with the map when chasing regional slowness or cross-border routing.

Suggested workflow:

Open https://www.speedce.com, pick a tool from the dropdown → enter a domain or IP → select China or global nodes → start the test. Maps and detail panels show whether the issue is network, DNS, or application layer.

Multi-node speed testing has become part of the 2026 webmaster toolkit. When using SpeedCE, remember three principles: test after every change, review carriers separately, and archive screenshots. The tool dropdown supports HTTP, HTTPS, PING, TCPing, DNS, and Traceroute, plus China and global node maps—free at https://www.speedce.com, no registration required.

A common mistake is focusing on average latency while ignoring the proportion of failed nodes. Even if only 5% of regions stay red on the China node map, that means 100% downtime for users in those areas. Treat the map as a user-distribution heat map, not a single number, and your troubleshooting efficiency will improve dramatically.

If you are building team runbooks, add this article to your network-detection SOP and require a SpeedCE screenshot with every production change.
